EDAN -Evaluación de Daños y Análisis de Necesidades realizado el domingo 6 Nov 2016 por voluntarios de Unidad 4x4 de Ayuda
DAMAGE and NEEDS assesment done on Sunday Nov 6th 2016 by Unidad 4x4 de Ayuda volunteers
THIS IS A CALL TO ALL THE ONES READING THIS POST for cooperation with the Shipibo natives community living in Lima in the place called Cantagallo located next to Vía de Evitamiento in Rimac district, they are about 2500 people, and they all HAVE LOST EVERYTHING in the big fire happened on Friday Nov 4th that destroyed all their little and humble belongings. On sunday Nov 6th I was there with three colleagues, we brought some donations from our families and friends and witnessed the amount of need is enormous; and made an assessment of damage and needs, the results are presented here.
PLEASE DONATE what you can and what you have and COOPERATE by sharing and spreading this message with your families and friends.
THE SHIPIBOS NEED:
COOKING UTENSILS: pots, fry pans, bowls, pans, cups, glasses, ladles, dishes, pitchers, spoons, knives, forks, stoves, strainers, can openers, gas bottles, matches, etc, etc. THEY HAVE NOTHING to cook with and nothing to eat with.
CLOTHES: underwear for children and adults, diapers, shoes, clothes for women, men and children
FURNITURE: chairs, tables, wardrobes, beds, mattresses, blankets, bed sheets, towels, benches, cradles, etc, etc,. They have nothing to sleep on, and nothing to put on. All the little aid they receive is on the floor.
FOOD: the best are canned food, tuna fish, crackers, cereals, granola, chocolates, milk, marmalade, condensed milk, cheese, bizcochos are better that bread because last longer. Water. Fruits that not need to be washed with skin like bananas, oranges, mandarinas. They have nothing to cook with and nothing to eat with, so it is better to supply food to be eaten directly from the pack/container without cooking. Food for dogs and cats.
CLEANING AND PERSONAL CARE: detergent, scotch brite, soap, teeth brush and paste, toilet paper, trash bags, plastic washing tubs, buckets, brooms, etc, etc
LIGHTNING. Flashlights and batteries. They have not electricity
HOUSING MATERIALS: calamines, plastics to make a tarp and/or covering walls to build a hut, plywood, sticks, rope, tents.
I’m sure we all have some of these things not in use and we all can contribute to relief the pain and suffering of our Shipibo brothers

RECOMMENDATIONS
If you decide to go on your own:
Wear boots or protective shoes, the ground is uneven and covered with thousands of nails and pieces of broken glass.
Wear trousers, no shorts or skirts.
Hat
Bring a backpack for yourself with: water, food, toilet paper, paper and pen, multi-function Swiss Army knife, gloves.
If the amount of goods you bring is big, bring a cart or wheelbarrow. There is a lot to walk for the distribution, the terrain is uneven, some steep climbs, etc.
Cars do not enter the site, they have to be parked outside and everything is done and carried walking inside
